Plantar fasciitis.
One of the most common conditions seen here at FootMed is plantar fasciitis. This is an inflammation along the plantar fascia – the connective tissue that stretches from the base of your toes, across the arch and into the heel bone. If you have soreness, tenderness and difficulty walking, especially right after getting out of bed, you may be suffering from plantar fasciitis.
Conservative measures first.
Here at FootMed, our director, Craig S. Tenzer, MD, DPM, begins with the most conservative measures to eliminate your pain. He may first prescribe a combination of anti-inflammatory medications and ice packs, stretching exercises, customized orthotic shoe inserts or physical therapy. Depending on results, you may also receive corticosteroid injections. However, some cases of heel pain do not respond to nonsurgical intervention and in these cases, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) may be required.
KobyGard™: A revolutionary MIS surgical option.
Through the KobyGard system, Dr. Tenzer offers his patients all of the postoperative benefits of minimally invasive surgery in the convenience of a minor-surgery setting. The KobyGard system allows Dr. Tenzer to easily and safely perform plantar fasciitis surgery through a single extremely small incision. The KobyGard system gives Dr. Tenzer and his patients a more desirable alternative to other minimally invasive techniques while eliminating the need for invasive endoscopic equipment. The end result is that you could be walking again in as little as two to three days… and back to work in about two weeks!
